First job is to refit door sign, lights and  post box out the front... now that the render is complete

Then complete all ventilation for garage roof space...soffit ventilated...

Theres a burn at the bottom of the garden...looks pretty in the sunshine..its natural...I did not make it :o)

Pond stuff arrives...I want it done before the hole fills with water..lots of rain expected...

Underlay fitted...bad weather forecast for the whole weekend...

Then start to fill it...by hose because the rain isn't here yet...

The dog is baffled at the strange noises....must be a mouse under there surely????

Lots of work to sort out the liner edges yet and finish it off but that can wait for another day...

Painting time!!! Need to build the deck out the side of the house. This will link the living room side doors to the driveway.....A whole day today, just getting one coat ( of three ) onto the timber...I forgot how broing the painting bit is...just as well I had hundreds of helpers for this during the main part of the build..the rain never came this weekend so the first coat even got a chance to dry outside!!!

Whilst outside painting was reminded of all the drive by visitors we get...people see the house from the main road, think what is that! and find it too tempting not to turn off for a closer look....either that or our street has a 5mph limit....Very rarely they stop and ask questions...some even offer to buy it...My response is always the same...Do you really think I would sell it after all this????

To keep the regular visitors happy ...here is the latest update..

If you look closely...you'll see....grass!!!! Jimmy's nearly got a garden...and the bush looks like it will survive.....for those that doubted it

A deck is built on the downstairs patio...work performance is monitored by the dog of course...

And of course no deck is complete without lights these days...

The tall bush by the pond is closely guarded....by a eighteen inch rubber duck..Stones provided by the local farmer...more to come yet...have wheelbarrow, will collect stones...still to build waterfall and fit pump/filter...buy fish but that can wait for spring time...

Bottom deck finished...look at all the lovely timber to maintain and yes the blue skies continue...it never rains in Scotland !

One more deck to build...then its time to go for the completion certificate....

So a raised deck to build...first timber bolted to the house...directly below the doors for those less observant...

A close up so you can see it...

Next timber is bolted to the wall...

Then the leg which is made to match the front canopy is bolted to the earlier made concrete pad ...this will hold up the deck..

Jimmy checks level, heights, square, plumb and all that....now the job stops until the missing piece of timber arrives from the merchant...however you get the idea ...the deck will link the driveway to the side doors on the living room and a stair will run down into the garden...the final construction work....

Didn't update last week...so here's last weeks action! Not this weeks work as its rained all week so I have done nothing!

Joists go in for the decking..using C24 grade timbers...

On completion the decking boards go down..

need to build a handrail now so its off back to the sawmill for some larch posts... same drill as the other handrail balcony..local DIY shop charges a tenner for a post that can be bought at the sawmill for three..

Then its time spent with a plane, router, and a chop saw so they match the other lot...the work begins..

The posts are now finished and fitted .. When the rain stops I'll add more pictures...

A few steps missed but the finished posts fitted ready for glass... Yes you are correct it is raining....

Taken a few days holiday to do some Gardening???? Can't believe it...trying to get some shrubs in before winter... filter fitted for pond....gravel added to the back edge...note its still raining....so given up for the day...first bush planted though!

That was yesterday (27th) ..suns out...time to get gardening... look just about got grass...

Extreme tree pruning from a solid foundation of...water?????

It maybe doesn't look it ..but its a long way up...

Here's the house from a ladder up high in the trees....

An old dead tree is cut down with a power saw to make way for a weeping willow which will be planted in its place...

Pruning ...chopping complete and look another bush by the pond...

Shrubs etc round the side of the house to cover the slope...
