June 09
19 June 09Updates have been slow because things have been hectic at work... so progress on the house has been slow as well....oh and been doing a bit o' hill walking..way up Mount Blair. Now that we are in we can afford to slow a bit and enjoy ourselves beyond the build...
The distant view from the top, from the cairn...

From the bottom....looking back up. We climbed that...

Back for our first ever BBQ at the new house...had to use disposables though because god knows where the real one is!

Right on with the work..
Garage powered up and Lights!

Even the security light has a special low energy lamp...only 24 watts...special lamp which fits as a direct replacement for a 500 watt halogen lamp. Security camera as well to capture the baddies and the ugly folk!

Yes I know its crap but temporary steps from the utility so we can get in this door when we have been dog walking!

Now the most exciting news of the month....just found out that I missed a recent tour by The Alarm, The Damned and a certain Mr Henry Cluney....some of you may never have heard of him....so here we go...here is the story... You all will by now know my Green Day, premiered in Hollywood story ...but my boy hood heroes were a band called Stiff Little Fingers...I still go to see them yet at Barrowlands on St Patricks night - seen them over 40 times now....well Henry was in the original line up as a guitarist with them and although they still play ( in various forms over the years), Henry is no longer part of the set up. But... he was here in Scotland on the above mentioned tour...played and sang and I missed it! What an arse! (me not Henry)
Henry has a website www.henrycluney.com so have a look. I emailed him today to say how pissed I was that I had missed the tour, but would catch him next time....and he emailed me back within a couple of hours!!!! Jimmy is in touch with Henry Cluney...exciting or what! So watch out for pictures in Sept / Oct when he returns to tour... I will try to get some pictures of me with Henry Cluney...you never know..maybe he may even pay my house a visit, if his tour is nearby!!! Now that would be something special! What a rock and roll lifestyle I lead!

The rock n roll lifestyle continues.. I have just signed up for a sponsored trek up Mount Snowdon (1085 metres) in Wales with another legend from my youth... Mr Mike Peters of The Alarm!
On Sat 4th July I will walking up Snowdon.... in my kilt of course. Its a 360 mile drive down there, a chance to walk with Mike and hear him play a live set from the top of Snowdon and then a 360 mile drive home! Its in less than two weeks time so I am in training now...no drinking for two weeks...oh the pressure! Click HERE to donate! Its payback time for all the laughs you've had during my build !!!! Watch out for the hpotos of Jimmy and Mike...he will be so proud of having his photo taken with me... more rock and roll!
25 June 09
Forgot to include a picture of the two Wendy's who last weekend walked the Edinburgh Moonwalk in aid of breast cancer. Starting at midnight, they walked 26 miles 385 yards in just over 7 hours...so with no sleep they return home for strawberry's and champagne, talk like budgies then fall asleep... No Stamina! Here they are with their medals...well done!

Right enough of all this and back to work..today the bottom of the cladding was all trimmed to tidy it up..last job on the cladding front appart from some painting!

Really need to get that hand rail done!

26 June 09
Electrician appears to finalise the burglar alarm to keep the baddies at bay... keypad fitted.

PIR's in appropriate places..

Stevie the joiner was here today also to do the finishing work on the stair...so handrail finished...2 pack glue and some pins...

So barring a severe sanding and lots of coats of Diamond Glaze the stairs are finished...ta da!
