Plasterboarding 2 !
21 August 2008Upstairs is completed!!! So we head downstairs and into Laura's bedroom...action stations! Rapid plasterboarding without Jimmy's machine!!!! . So it starts all over again! We really need to get outside and working on the roof but it just won't stop raining! So the insulating team have filled the upper floor void with 100mm of acoustic wool and we are using acoustic plasterboard which is extremely heavy! Will it help????

Marie is drunk after winning the Champion of Champions bowling tournament... I'm sure you get the idea!
Back to work! The girls rooms are plasterboarded..just to build the doorway and built in wardrobe partitions..

Almost a week without an update! So here's a few photos to make up for it!

More plasterboarding...the girls rooms are done including build in wardrobes and the hall way and the storeroom at the bottom of the stairs..
Green plasterboard can only mean one thing...bathrooms being prepared!

A day of sunshine means the builders are here...the central wall which will support the driveway is almost completed....soon the driveway will go on...
Tape and fill starts.....
Downstairs living room is finally ready for plasterboard...big chunks of timber added into the wall to hold up the TV...

Meanwhile upstairs taping and filling progresses.. the sharp eyed will notice that the electrician is cutting out the boxes...

One more coat of plaster then its a final rub down and onto painting...electrician is cutting out the boxes..
Meanwhile Jimmy continues with the most hated job in the whole build...running the ducting for the heat recovery and ventilation system... god I hate that job...did I mention that I don't like having to do this??? So fed up that I have Saturday night off! The fourth night off since March!!! Jimmy is slacking!!!

All electrics are to go "outside" to the utility room...
Our kitchen...its been lying in our bedroom for the last month...gonna have to move it so that I can plasterboard the last room...I can't believe it ...we are in the home straight with plasterboarding!!!

Tape & Fill guys work through the weekend to get the job done...soon Jimmy will be ready for paint!
With razor sharp corners and a super smooth finish, these guys have done a great job...
Here we go..last room to plasterboard Jimmy's bedroom. There is only Emma and Jimmy around so the plasterboard machine is called back into operation... job is a doddle with it!
Jimmy has a bad night...only three sheets up on the ceiling and steps in a muddy puddle in the dark...well at least it gives the family something to laugh about! Its Monday night ...its dark and I stepped in a bloody puddle...having a bad few days of it! All the rest of the gang are upstairs cleaning after the final sand of the tape & fill...soon be painting!

The final partition walls go up! 2 sheets of plasterboard on the ceilings to go...and its finished and about half a dozen walls....currently the kitchen is now sitting in the bathroom...moved from the bedroom...lots of cleaning done and dusting down after the plasterers left..its nearly painting time...up there anyway!

After tonight there is one wall in the bedroom - along the passageway and the en suite to plasterboard and its finished!!!!
Wife checks the shower...will it be big enough for both of us??? :o)
This will be the last wall in the bedroom... one more wall to do which can't be done until the staircase arrives...going to see it tomorrow as it has now been built!
Look...the bloody kitchen! Its moved again...this time upstairs as it is in the way of plasterboarding...one day soon the kitchen units will actually be in the kitchen!

Lots of work to plasterboard around the staircase treads which disappear into the wall to create the illusion of an almost cantilevered staircase...
There's a bit of work to go yet but you get the idea!!!
